Ambette (Kunst)

*****
Ambette was kick-started by Liz Doust in early 2010 as a form of 'creative relief' away from her work in medical research. She bought her first sewing machine in 2009 with her share of the government's economic stimulus package, and hasn't looked back. Liz grew up on a farm in central NSW with her brother and two sisters. There she got plenty of hands-on experience making things ranging from yabby-traps, to cubby-houses and billy-carts. Liz's love of designing and making was helped along in her early years, by a couple of crafty aunties whose Christmas presents often involved boxes of fabric scraps and other recycled materials, which ended up being used in numerous projects along the way. These days, Liz lives in Melbourne, leading a double life as a scientist by day, and maker of unique modern cases for gadgetries by night. A bit of a fabric fanatic, she plans to eventually dabble in textile design and add some unique prints to her range and she dreams of the day when she can escape the life of a lab-rat for good and get back to her crafty roots on a more full-time basis.
