Anna Laub (Kunst)

*****
Founder; Creative Director, PRISM; Editor of O: Woman. London
Anna Laub has been in the fashion industry a looong time… and she’s come a long way from her days as a teen model. The girl has worked with all the key players: Hussein Chalayan, Conde Nast, The New York Times: T Magazine, The LA Times… the list goes on. The London-bred, girl-about-town has tried her hand at everything from editing mags—she founded the youth culture mag, PURE—to writing for a wide variety of notable publications. Her most recent endeavour? PRISM, her covetable line of eyewear and swimwear. After being fed-up of not being able to find “cool, optical glasses,” Laub set out to make ‘em herself. You know what they say? If you want something done right, do it yourself! Each pair is inspired (and named after) a different city; and we must say, we’re big fans of Tokyo and Rio! Aside for being picked up by Barneys, Opening Ceremony, Collette and Dover Street Market, Laub recently collaborated with cult-fave Rachel Comey, providing the eyewear for her NYC show. Talk about spectacle! Although she’s got plenty on her plate with PRISM, Laub continues to dabble in the journalistic side of things, working alongside TANK magazine’s Caroline Issa, as an editor at the UK Observer’s biannual fashion supplement, O: Magazine. (Heads up, Issa. We’re coming for ya next!) And she’s got a damn good eye for style. Her love for leopard had us seeing spots for days… but, to be honest, we weren’t complaining. But the real pièce de résistance? Her Alaïa collection. Cher Horowitz would be mega jealous… just saying.

Anna Laub does double duty as fashion journalist (working for New York Times' T blog and as the Europe Editor of trend forecaster WGSN) and creative director (her line of eyewear, PRISM http://www.prismlondon.com/ draws from an eclectic range of fashion inspirations, from the contemporary style of Rio and Copenhagen to the architecture of Mexico city and the vintage look of 50's and 60's Americana).
Her blog can be seen here http://prismlondon.blogspot.com/ and gives us an insight into her creative inspirations as well as some of the top shows of the season, including the Fall/Winter 2011 Dolce & Gabbana show where she was briefly interviewed http://www.style.com/video/fashion-s...r/806874379001
Some fans of her eyewear line PRISM include fashion royalty Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Garance Dore, and fashion slut Kanye West.

She is memorable for her model good looks, (she reminds me at times of Alexa Chung, and at others has a touch of Olivia Wilde with her dark hair and beautiful light eyes) and her style is classy and relaxed. She is often seen with a pair of signature frames, and has been quoted as saying "Everyone is looking for ways to differentiate themselves at the moment. As you wear glasses on your face, it's the first thing people see, so you want them to look exciting, don't you?"

She has been featured on a number of style sites and blogs, you can see more here:
