Berta Camal was born in Havana, Cuba. She began an artistic career at a young age, first by designing and painting custom t-shirts at age fifteen, then working as a professional illustrator for several years.

She was introduced to the fashion industry while working as a model, and she quickly discovered a passion (and talent) for the art of makeup. As a makeup artist for Rolonda Watts, she met Kevyn Aucoin, a guest on the show. The two artists quickly developed a rapport, and Berta began assisting him on fashion shows. After becoming one of his top assistants, she worked extensively with his celebrity clients.

Berta has since worked independently with celebrities and musicians such as Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Vanessa Carlton, The Pussy Cat Dolls, Blondie, Natasha Bedingfield, Claire Danes, Molly Ringwald, Katie Couric, Sonic Youth, George Clooney, Benicio Del Toro, Michelle Williams, Donna Karan and many others. She has worked with magazines that include Vanity Fair, SPIN, Rolling Stone, Esquire, GQ, InStyle, Latina, Entertainment Weekly and US. In addition, Berta has appeared on several MTV make-over specials and acted as key makeup artist for music videos and fashion shows. Fluent in Spanish, Berta has been hired as a makeup product spokesperson on Latin TV and done makeup specials on their shows. Recently she completed a series of Pro M.A.C classes, "Working in the Music Industry" which turned out to be quite enjoyable for both the teacher and the students! After years in the business Berta is still in love with makeup bringing her talent, professionalism & enthusiasm to every job.
