Hello, my name is Renee, and I am a craft-o-holic. My creative adventures began back in the good old days of puff paints and Clagg paste (one spoon for the paper, one spoon for me…). I don’t think I can remember a time when I didn’t have some kind of arty outlet on the go.
I first stumbled upon embroidery as the latest way to avoid bad television and suck up to my mother-in-law, who had visited with projects of her own. Hobby soon grew into habit as I began making hand-embroidered gifts for friends and workmates, driving my partner insane by leaving loose threads all over the house and stray needles stuck in the arms of our sofa. And so *couch* was born. My design process is less of a studied affair than a lingering in front of the mirror, late for work, cursing the heavens because “I have NOTHING that goes with this!”. I am inspired by captivating colours and touchable textures.
