Eddie Soloway (Kunst)
A Natural Eye
My passion is the natural world and my joy is helping people appreciate and ultimately live more in harmony with the earth and its life. To that end, I divide my efforts between photography, writing and teaching.
My photography focuses on two bodies of work: images of wilderness places and moments, and abstractions of the natural world. In both, I photograph using only natural light, without filters. As I learned the foundational skills in photography, I also became intrigued with the words of poets and the brushstrokes of painters as they interpreted the land in new ways. I set out to celebrate the abstract qualities of color, form and light.
After years of taking rather boring records of outdoor places and things, I accidentally dropped my camera into a saltwater estuary in the Everglades. Freed from the burden of always feeling the need to carry a camera, I spent the ensuing years simply and purely seeing. When I picked up the camera many years later, my images were entirely different. It seems that in those years, without knowing it, something fundamental had changed: I had honed my natural eye.
Eddie Soloway's images are printed on Fuji Crystal Archival Photographic Paper. They are available in either 16 x 20 or 32 x 40 matted and/or framed formats.
