Heather Jorde (Kunst) geplaatst via een iPad

 *****
Hi, and welcome to RestlessOasis! Originally I started RestlessOasis as an army wife. Eight moves in four years (and four states!) later, I needed a creative outlet and wanted to inspire others to make their homes beautiful despite a transient lifestyle. Upon finishing his military commitment this past winter, Red decided to join the civilian world. That’s when RestlessOasis found a home. Since starting RestlessOasis, it has become so much more to me than a creative space. I have learned more about myself and my design aesthetic, and had fun doing so.
More about me…I’m Heather, I’m married to my best friend Red, and we have a one year old girl, "R", as well as our dog-child, Geronimo. Besides my love for design, I’m a personal trainer and runner. You might see a few healthy recipes here and there. My little family and my faith shape who I am and are my inspirations. I’m passionate about making expensive attainable, and making my home a place where memories are made and the people in it are most important. Welcome to my space!

When Heather Jorde and her husband moved from Upstate New York to Indiana, they knew they were going to have to make some sacrifices in terms of character. Their former home, a nineteenth century house on an old army base brought the old-fashioned charm in spades, something that many of the postwar homes they looked at were sorely lacking. “Needless to say,” Heather says, “we couldn’t recreate that experience and bought a newer house for the time being.”

Despite “settling,” at least temporarily, the couple has managed to completely transform the once unremarkable space. With some choice Craigslist purchases, thoughtful paint selections, and a few well-picked IKEA finds, they took the putty-colored walls and drab moldings typical of new construction and injected a substantial amount of old-school character into it. The results are as affordable as they are utterly charming. “I wanted to break the ‘cookie cutter’ mold,” Heather continues, “and make the space unique yet simple, drawing inspiration from modern Scandinavian design.” Mission accomplished!
