Lisa Bengtsson (Winkel)
About Lisa Bengtsson
My life began in 1981 in the small town Gnosjö in Småland, Sweden. Ever since I was little I have been interested in design and creative work, which has followed me throughout my life. After graduating I worked for a daily newspaper for three years. Then I decided to go to Italy, where I spent several months as a pupil to anartist while studying the Italian language. When I came back to SwedenI was offered to work as an art director at an advertising agency. Two years later, I decided to study Graphic Design at Bergh's School of Communication in Stockholm.
After graduating from Berghs I decided to start my own business with my own design. I work mainly with pattern design but also with graphic design and illustrations. My inspiration comes from people and their own stories, the present combined with the past. For me it is important to express my own values and feelings in my creativity.
My first wallpaper Familjen (Family) was my thesis from Berghs and is a pattern of frames. Familjen symbolizes our lives and how we choose to frame them. Svärmor (Mother in law) is my second wallpaper with shoes from different times in my life. I have also created ceiling wallpaper for Björklund & Wingqvist, which is named Edith after being inspired by Edith Piaf. Oss kvinnor emellan (Between us women) is the name of my plate collection and Mademoiselle, Svärmor and Sir Harold are fabrics I have designed for the textile company Mairo, to mention some of the projects I have done.
What I dreamed of as a child is now my job. In my profession I communicate through image, colour, shape, pattern and typography to send a message or feeling to other people. The day I realized that I could create this by my own design, I knew I wanted to be a designer.
