Paul Merritt (Kunst)

*****
With an inherent interest in fashion and culture, Paul Merritt left the East-End of London in 1988 to spend 18 months travelling throughout Asia, feeding his sense of adventure and creativity in Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand.

On his return to London and the West-End scene in 1991, Paul was introduced to the concept of hairdressing by a friend and immediately saw it as an opportunity to combine his love of creativity and style. The same year, he joined hairdressing institution Vidal Sassoon to hone his craft.

Paul’s passion and enthusiasm for the industry grew quickly alongside his reputation, seeing him become part of the recognised faces of hairdressing. By the late 90’s, he had been sited as a rising star of the industry and by the year 2000, appeared on ground-breaking docu-soap, The Salon, bringing hairdressing to the attention of the masses.

Since then, his status as a global ambassador for key product companies, including Wella, Babyliss and GHD, has involved education, brand guidance, creative direction and salon setup. He has worked with respected photographers such as Tim Bret Day, Jonas Bresnan, Christopher Sturman, Trent McGinn, Robert Astley-Sparke and Nick Haddow, for publications such as Vogue Russia, Harpers Bazaar, Commons and Sense, Ponystep & In Style. Paul has also worked with emerging fashion designers such as Felipe Rojas Llanos at LFW. Celebrities include; Claudia Schiffer, Rosamund Pike, Alexa Chung, Emma Thompson, Alice Dellal, Jennifer Lawrence and Bryan Ferry.

His passion for hairdressing is encouraged by his keen interest in architecture, design, music and photography from which he draws inspiration and constant motivation.

Paul currently bases himself in London and divides his time between his session work and The PM Studio, his West-End salon.
