Renzo Piano (Kunst)

*****
Genoa, 1937
Renzo Piano was born in Genoa in 1937 to a family of builders.
In his city, deep cultural and expressive roots were laid with the old town, port and his father's craft.
At the Politecnico University of Milan, he worked in Franco Albini’s studio.
He graduated in 1964 and began to experiment with light, mobile and temporary structures.
From 1965 to 1970 he carried out a great many research and discovery journeys throughout Great Britain and the United States of America.
In 1971, he founded the ‘Piano & Rogers’ studio in London, in collaboration with Richard Rogers, with whom he won the competition to develop the Paris Centre Pompidou. He then moved to Paris.
From the early 1970s to the 1990s, he collaborated with engineer Peter Rice, creating the ‘Atelier Piano & Rice’ operating from 1977 to 1981.
In 1981, finally, he set up the ‘Renzo Piano Building Workshop’, an office that brings together approximately 150 people with headquarters in Paris, Genoa and New York.
