Born and raised in Germany with an American father, Steven Canavan was fascinated by the fashion world from a very early age and started his artistic education at an art school to get in touch with the feelings of colors, drawings and painting and then attended a make up school.

In the following years he assisted international make-up artists and developed a fresh approach to feminine beauty starting with gorgeous, flawless skin, creative strong details and minimal glamour.

This keen sensibility allowed Canavan to work with photographers such as Karim Sadli, Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer, Ellen von Unwerth, Serge Leblon, Jem Mitchell, Adam Whitehead, Olaf Wipperfurth, Carlotta Manaigo, Robbie Fimmano, Victor Demarchelier, Satoshi, Andreas Larsson and Daniel Riera.

His editorial work can be seen in Vogue (International editions),I-D, Flair, Muse, Velvet, Dazed & Confused just to name a few.

Steven has also worked with celebrities such as Diane Kruger, Cameron Diaz, Audrey Tautou, Clemence Poesy, Maggie Cheung, Emmanuele Seigner, Asia Argento, Ludivine Seigner, Melanie Laurent, Elettra Rossellini, Charlotte Rampling and Vincent Cassel.

Steven’s talent can also be seen in a number of advertising campaigns including Celine, Louis Vuitton, Kristina T, Scherrer, Azzaro, Franck et Fils, Janet & Janet, New Man, Caudalie and Givenchy.

Steven lives between Paris and New York.
