Born in rural Nebraska and raised between New York City and Jacksonville, Florida, Timo Weiland is hands down, one of our favorite gents. His namesake collection, which he designs with partner Alan Eckstein, presented their latest collection yesterday and boy, do we want it all. But before his career in fashion took off, he majored in economics, Spanish literature and business management and minored in vocal performance at Vanderbilt University before heading back to New York and picking up the sewing machine to launch his line. We ventured inside his West Village walkup, (which is the epitome of a unique downtown space) and found, perhaps our favorite item, an antique telephone booth from across the pond. But that thing’s not for phone calls—he uses it to house his favourite shoes from Gucci and Lanvin to Vivienne Westwood and Stubbs & Wootton. (Almost all of which he wears sans socks!) His home is like a magical museum with his mother-made needlepoint and surfboards for his Montauk weekend escapes on display. From his plaids, stripes and polka dots, Timo is no stranger to prints, but it’s his Spring/Summer 2011 custom landscape print that captured our hearts….and his. After mastering the art of the digital print this season, we can’t wait to see what galaxy Timo will take us to next!

Timo Weiland

Born in rural Nebraska and raised between New York City and Jacksonville, Florida, Timo Weiland's influences reach from the urban to the pastoral. Training from his mother at an early age in sewing coupled with an understanding of fabric, sparked Timo's early interest in fashion. Timo always demonstrated an inclination towards the arts via ongoing sketching, painting, and photography. However, he majored in Economics, Spanish Literature, and Business Management and minored in Vocal Performance at Vanderbilt University before returning to New York to pursue a career in fashion and to ultimately launch his namesake brand.
Timo Weiland: The Brand

After brief internships in the fashion industry, Timo and Alan met and quickly developed a compelling dialogue, which ultimately led to a design partnership. Their mutual interest in European history, travel and a flair for dapper dressing promoted an engaging creative exchange. The Timo Weiland collection reflects their personal aesthetic sensibilities and broader desire to spur a return to the art of dressing. eleifend lobortis auctor.
