Elmer Ralph Dinkelaar (Kunst)

*****
The photos of Dutch fine art photographer Elmer Ralph Dinkelaar appeal because of their impressionistic emphasis on colors, light and structure. He tries to shut out everything that distracts from what he perceives as the heart of the image. This approach often gives his photographs a slightly abstract nature. A returning theme in his work is 'tranquility in motion': a movement is abstracted to a point that -in contrast to its own nature- it conveys stillness and ease.
His favorite subjects are: Modern Landscapes (including Cityscapes), Nature and 'In & Around the House' scenes and details.

HIS MOTTO:
Create by exclusion. “To see your photo gaining strength because you take out all that is not related to the essence of a scene: that is what really fascinates me. Less is really far more beautiful.”

INSPIRED BY:
Edward Weston, Charlie Waite, Ansel Adams, Jim Brandenburg, Tao Te Ching.

NEW PROJECTS:
“Currently I'm working on a project that I call Speedscapes. From a moving car I take photographs of a landscape, which results in wonderful compositions purely of lines and color areas. I find that these photos communicate the essence of the landscape very strongly, precisely because they lack sharpness and detail. It's a challenge to find out how much can be left out while still preserving a specific landscape.”
