Kees Blom (Kunst)

*****
Blom (1968), painter and member of the Foundation Ateliers Apeldoorn, is self-taught.

Around his fortieth started painting, he says it: 'At one point could not be otherwise. As a child I stood for hours staring at the little picture-painters of the Veluwe. Who hung with us in the stairwell. My father knew that painters. Thus hung so that work with us. Also in the room. '

Despite his early interest in art blossomed, his ambitions were not from the paint. Because the stove making paintings did not come to firing, was a career as a carpenter more obvious. But there has developed his skill and mastery of the art painting eventually pulled so hard and with such conviction to him that there was no longer escape. But the skills he the carpenter now fully controlled, such attention to detail and with your hands to communicate what that eye has seen, those skills came in handy at him again, still lifes, which he now with great success.

Who sees the paintings of Kees Blom, will therefore immediately recognize that expertise in-tion. But technically it should be perfect. Layer upon layer, in four or five sessions, he paints such as a strawberry, a bird or a porcelain bowl on a panel. A bowl-mark or a strawberry that you can almost pick, you can feel. Because what you see is what you get: a pleasant surprise, an image that immediately appeals. The work of Blom been caused feelings of surprise, joy. Pure emotion. You get a sudden craving for an apple, a pear. Or suddenly there is that bowl, that you really want,

The work of Blom is edible, touchable. It hangs on the wall and tap into the pulse of anyone who has the time to take it easy to view. The work of Blom comes at you and shows, in each painting, the mastery that he has made since he gaandweg own the work of masters such as the Veluwe child saw hanging in the stairwell. Striking in its current work is the use of the backlight, making his realistic paintings have a key note of the abstract.
