Transporting from Illinois to NYC to LA, Kristen Shaw has immersed herself in many forms of art. Studying at the Aveda Institute in Chicago was a lesser known plan, as she was also attending school for theatre and fine art. A blessing in disguise as her hands were always creating, she found a home in hair. Since then, she's become one of the most sought after young hair stylists and groomers.

Kristen draws inspiration from her illustrations, travels, and experiences living in NYC and Los Angeles. While living in NYC she studied under April Barton at the Chelsea Hotel's Suite 303, mastering the craft of cutting men's and women's hair. With a strong belief in E.E. Cummings' statement, "To destroy is always the first step in any creation," Kristen breaks down the components to a long lasting haircut along with making each snip and slice unlike any before. Kristen plays with the ideas of effortlessly real and raw, fantasy, period, and dream like looks.

Her work can be found in magazines such as Interview, V MAN, Italian Elle, Blend, Another Man, L'Uomo Vogue, i-D, T Magazine and Nylon. Setting the bar in fashion, and with celebrities such as Gerard Butler, Beth Behrs, Demian Bichir, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Josh Charles, Lindsay Lohan, Reeve Carney, Logan Lerman, Jake Abel, Eliza Coupe, Jamie Bochert, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers among others. She is also immersed in the commercial world with clients such as Nike, Stella Artois, Puma, Acura, Honda, Kayak, Marriott, and Axe just to name a few.

She's found that from a desire to create in many forms, comes the ability to let go-- open her eyes and bring about beauty that is derived from all around us, and most of all from a gut feeling to make images, ideas and people come alive.
