I have been into crafty capers since I was a little tacker when I used to make things for my doll's house. Things like a mini wire whisk - I think I have too much patience...

Perhaps my obsession with birdie motifs was inspired by our childhood canary called Wesley. He would proudly whistle an overture when we were trying to watch a movie. I loved it when he would fluff up like a tennis ball, tucking one beg up and his beak under his wing to have a nap. A tennis ball on a stick.

I have been painting and drawing little birdies for years and now they have evolved into fabric brooches. I piece them together from all sorts of recycled materials that I hoard in my workroom and then they make their way to my grandmother's singer, taking on a life of their own, developing their own personalities and now they need to fly the coop!
