The Iconic Interior features 100 of the most important and influential interiors from around the world. Designed by a broad spectrum of fashion designers, artists and architects, set designers and decorators, these private spaces represent a wide range of styles, periods, and aesthetics. Here are such unforgettable spaces as Billy Baldwins design for Diana Vreelands New York City home; Edith Whartons famous New England house, The Mount; Coco Chanels legendary Paris apartment; Frank Lloyd Wrights Hollyhock House; Tony Duquettes California estate, Dawnridge; and Piero Fornasettis Villa Fornasetti. Organized chronologically, many of the interiors have been photographed specially for this book. Along with the lush photographs, each description is accompanied by a short biography of the owner/designer. The Iconic Interior is a complete guide to 100 years of influential, gorgeous design.

From the Author
This book has been a long time in the making. It's a celebration of a century of pioneering interior design from around the world, with special photography throughout by Richard Powers. Creating and curating this book has been a wonderful journey of discovery, from Edith Wharton's American home down through the decades to Marc Newson's London apartment. Along the way we've captured the homes of some of the great innovators of the 20th century, such as Piero Fornasetti, Tony Duquette, Terence Conran, Andrée Putman, Jonathan Adler and Karim Rashid.
It's the kind of book that can be enjoyed as a feast for the eyes, with hundreds of vibrant images and an enticing, fresh layout. But the ambition was to also create texts and commentaries that are engaging, entertaining and educational.
The breadth of styles and the many varied approaches to creating landmark interior spaces are the things that make this book really stand out. We hope that there truly is something for everyone within this journey through a hundred plus years of design history. We trust that you will enjoy the trip as much as we have.
